  • As an independent, physician-owned dermatology practice, we are known for our warm and approachable environment. At Viva Dermatology, we are dedicated to upholding the values of traditional medical practice, where the doctor-patient relationship takes precedence. With us, you can trust in the continuity of your care, as you will consistently receive dedicated attention from our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Olazagasti. Our practice is designed to provide a more accessible and patient-centric experience. We take pride in shorter wait times, ensuring that care is readily available when you need it most. Furthermore, our commitment to quality care means we prioritize longer and unhurried visits by avoiding overbooked appointments. Above all, we offer a personalized care experience where we take the time to get to know our patients and work to accommodate their needs.

  • At our clinic, we accept Original Medicare to ensure accessibility for Medicare beneficiaries. We do not accept private insurances, including Medicare Advantage plans offered by private insurance companies (also known as Medicare Part C plans). However, we do welcome Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) as payment options for non-cosmetic appointments.

You can easily find our consultation rates on our online scheduling portal, and we will transparently disclose in-office procedure fees before any treatment. Our consultation rates and in-office procedure fees are intentionally set at a competitive and budget-friendly level, designed to benefit individuals who are self-pay, uninsured, or have high-deductible health plans. It is important to note that the rates on our scheduling portal and in-office procedure fees do not apply to patients with Original Medicare since we adhere to guidelines set by the federal government's Original Medicare program.

Our mission is to provide accessible, affordable, and transparent quality care for everyone, whether insured or not. We want our patients to receive the highest level of care without the worry or stress of receiving a surprise bill months later. Rest assured, we will never send you a bill after paying your balance at the end of your visit.

  • Absolutely! Yes, you can always use your insurance for prescriptions, lab work, pathology fees, and other providers we may recommend as part of your collaborative care. However, it's important to note that whether your insurance covers these costs can be uncertain and are not guaranteed because we operate independently from pharmacies, laboratories, dermatopathology labs, and other providers we may refer you to. Nevertheless, we always make diligent efforts to explore cost-effective alternatives and will strive to find options that work for you.

  • We are dedicated to streamlining your experience, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and providing comprehensive dermatological care that prioritizes both your health and financial well-being. Whenever possible, we prescribe generics and recommend online pharmacies with affordable cash prices that provide free delivery within a day or two. We can also assist you in finding favorable cash prices using GoodRx coupons.

Additionally, we have negotiated lower rates with labs and dermatopathology facilities to help patients save on essential tests. This is especially beneficial for those who are self-pay, uninsured, or have high-deductible health plans.

When referring you to other providers as part of our team-focused approach, we strive to connect you with those who, like us, offer reasonable and transparent consultation rates so that you know their cost ahead of time and you don’t experience surprise bills!

  • Currently we are accepting virtual patients in the state of Texas with skin concerns relating only to acne, eczema, hair loss, rosacea, and uneven skin tone. Due to the limitations of videoconferencing, we are unable to accept patient cases for any conditions other than the ones mentioned above, including new skin lesions, evaluation of any moles, or potential skin cancers. If you make an appointment for any skin concerns other than the ones listed above, your appointment will be canceled.

  • Viva Dermatology offers a unique 'Photo Review Consult' service for patients with mild cases of acne and eczema who are seeking skin care guidance without the need for a video visit. By completing a detailed questionnaire and submitting photographs, patients can receive a personalized skin care routine within 48 hours. Please note, this service provides limited medical advice and only recommends over-the-counter products. If prescription medications are required, a separate video visit will be necessary. Be aware if an appointment is made for issues beyond the scope of this service, it will be canceled and alternative solutions will be suggested.

  • No, a referral is not required. Dr. Olazagasti participates in the federal government's Original Medicare program, which allows beneficiaries to select any specialist without needing a referral. Since we do not bill private insurance plans or Medicare Advantage plans provided by private insurance companies (also known as Medicare Part C plans), there is no need for a referral. You are welcome to schedule appointments with Dr. Olazagasti online at your convenience, in accordance with our transparent fee structure.

  • Minimal! In today's fast-paced world, waiting weeks to see a dermatologist isn't practical. That's why we often offer same-week appointments, and occasionally, even same-day appointments. Just check our online scheduling in real time to come see us! Whether it's an urgent issue or a routine check, experience the convenience and peace of mind that comes with prompt and readily available dermatological care.

  • If you establish care with us, we will provide you with our fax number so you or your other providers may send us your medical medical records or other documents for us to review. These documents may include, for example, previous pathology reports, lab results, office visit notes, etc.

  • Your appointment time is reserved just for you! Be courteous and provide notice of at least 24 hours to cancel or reschedule. A late cancellation or a missed visit creates a gap in our doctor's schedule that could have accommodated another patient. To ensure the smooth functioning of our practice, we kindly request a 24-hour notice for appointment changes or cancellations. Patients who are unable to provide this notice or miss their appointment will be responsible for the full appointment fee, and we will not be able to issue a refund. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

If you are late for your appointment, you will still be seen for the remainder of your appointment that is left. You will still be responsible for payment for the entirety of the appointment time.

  • Payment is due at the time of service. We accept Health Saving Accounts (HSA), Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), debit cards and credit cards. Please note, HSA and FSA cards must be used for medically necessary services. A credit card on file is required to book appointments but is not charged unless there is a violation of our cancellation and no-show policy.

We hope to ensure accessible, affordable, and transparent quality care for everyone who seeks our services without the stress or worry of receiving a surprise bill months later. Please have peace of mind that we will never send you a bill after paying your balance at the end of your visit!
